Company of Heroes.

I downloaded a demo for Company of Heroes. It is made by Relic, the same guys who made Dawn of War. Unlike DoW, however, CoH does support widescreen resolutions.

A few hours after playing the demo, I went out and bought the full version.

The game is damned good! The controls are just right, the sound is great and the graphics are mind boggling. I play at maximum zoom-out so I could see more of the battlefield and everything looks fluid and natural as it should be. It is impossible to make out small details, but if I zoom in... everything is as detailed as things are in many first person shooter games. One thing that blew me away in particular was the detail on a socialist officer's pistol. From the top down view you can barely see the tiny thing, but when you zoom in on it, you see every nook and cranny of the distinctive Luger shape. Oh and explosions look absolutely fantastic.

Gameplay is also nothing short of excellent. Soldiers on both sides are very real and act that way. They try to find cover, drop down when under fire and are able to capture various armaments such as machine guns and mortars that are left over from killed enemies. Whatever they do, it looks very real.

Another noteworthy aspect is the lack of resource harvesting. You gain your resources (manpower/munitions/fuel) by capturing points on the map that effectively act as your supply lines. Just as real supply lines they can be cut by the enemy thus drastically reducing your ability to call for reinforcements and use special abilities like grenades. And trust me there is nothing like a good old grenade to take out a socialist machine gun crew.

So far I beat only two missions, but I love this game already!

Wide screen WTF.

I downloaded 2 demos tonight. Warhammer 40000 Dawn of War and Battlefield 2142.

To my surprise neither support 1680x1050 resolution. I am speechless.

What. The. Fuck.

Both games seem pretty nice, I played 3 or 4 matches in Battlefield and messed a little with Dawn of War. I'd like to continue playing, but it annoys the hell out of me when everything is distorted.

Bah!

Eleventy First Game!!!

Posted on August 4, 2007 at 9:33 pm.

YES! I HAVE DONE IT AT LAST!!!

My game #111 is Overlord. I beat it a few minutes ago. It is an excellent game and I am very happy that it is my Eleventy First!

The first thing I did was record it in my list of beaten games and now I will go out and celebrate!

Aside from being an important milestone in my gaming career, Overlord is also a really good game in all respects. It is available for PC and Xbox 360. If you have either of those I recommend you get this game. I got hours of enjoyment out of it!

Eleventy First game fast approaching.

Posted on August 1, 2007 at 10:52 am.

I am now in the last 1/3 of the game which will most likely end up being my 111st one. It's a great game and will undoubtedly be worthy of its honorable position in my list.

It will also be the first game I beat on my new computer.

Not sure when exactly I will beat it, but if I had to give a ETA, I would say maybe this weekend!

Woot! I can't wait!

I am actually thinking about throwing a little party. I wanted to do it for my 100th game, but it was Diablo 2, and I didn't feel like celebrating because it sucked.

Vegansexuals.

Posted on July 31, 2007 at 10:56 am.

And for today's share of amazingly stupid people we turn to New Zealand. Meet the "vegansexuals" - an epitome of stupidity.

These people are vegan (that being severely retarded on its own) whose claim to fame is their refusal to have sex with non-vegans. The reason? Well, the bodies of non-vegans are made up of dead animals.

The original article can be found here.

I wonder, what kind of desperation one must experience to even consider these psychos as sex partners? They probably don't even swallow, because you know... it's an animal product.

Procreate for the motherland.

Posted on July 30, 2007 at 1:03 pm.

Check out this article.

It talks about a government sponsored youth movement that is pretty much the Hitler-Jugend of today's Russia.

The article starts with a description of the camp where mass weddings take place and the organizers encourage the young people to procreate "so Russians don't disappear like mammoths".

There is more in the article and it is a pretty surreal read for anyone who lives in at least a semi-civilized place.

We saw the Simpsons and enjoyed it! Also we "simpsonized" ourselves and this is how we would look as Simpsons characters:

I'm an elitist (too).

A friend sent me a link to this blog. I like it so I am reposting it here:

I am an Elitist.

And damned proud of it.

In my world achievement is recognized and appreciated.

In my world accomplishment is respected.

In my world results matter.

I my world intentions and motives count for something, but not much.

In my world self esteem is a byproduct of good results, not the primary goal of any action.
