Woo-hoo!
Imus will be on the air again starting on December 3rd, according to this article.
Personally, I have never listened to the guy, and have never heard of him before the scandal, but hey, FREE SPEECH RULES!!!

70,000 flee BFKG's healthcare.

Britain Formerly Known as Great is here again today, to amuse us with the following great news:
70,000 Britons per year go abroad for medical treatment. Apparently the state sponsored ruined health care isn't good enough for them. The projections say that by the end of this decade as many as 200,000 people will go elsewhere if they need help.
Funny, isn't it? Government began fucking with something in an effort to improve it, and lo and behold, suddenly people run to Malaysia and India.
Big, BIG surprise here.

Dress like a Muslim.

The "1984 Recreation Society", which is also referred to as "Britain Formerly Known As Great" has more happy news to share with us.
In one of the schools all the students and teachers are ordered to dress up as Muslims in order to "celebrate diversity". Only 2 school employees are Muslim.
Everyone is unhappy, but nobody wanted to speak out for the fear of being branded a racist.
Original article here.
So far there are no reports of Muslims having to dress up on Christian, Jewish, etc. holidays.

Russo studento obliko moralee.

Halloween "is destructive for the minds and the spiritual and moral health of pupils" says the Moscow education official. This is why Halloween is now banned in schools and colleges.
Here is the original article.
What I find particularly amusing is the fact that imported cultural phenomena, such as Halloween, are very popular in Russia. This is despite (as the article claims) organized opposition from the Russian Orthodox Church as well as the government.
Well, protectionist policies are known for their "great effectiveness" whether applied to trade, industry or culture. I wonder why is nobody lining up to celebrate something imported from Russia?
P.S. - Just for Mitia: I didn't look for news from Russia, this article was on DrudgeReport this morning.

Free taco.
Posted on October 30, 2007 at 4:22 pm.
I already got mine and you better hurry!
Today Taco Bell is giving away a free taco to anyone who wants one. That's from 2 to 5 PM. Apparently something happened at some baseball championship, and Taco Bell promised to feed America if that thing happens.
Now, I don't care or know anything about baseball, but a free taco ... hey, why not?

Today so far.

I've spent 5 hours on the phone with Microsoft today. Our server had died over the weekend, so I had to call in for some help. Although it took a while, they seemed to have fixed it for which I am grateful.
In other news, my review copy of The Witcher has arrived. I will be sure to install it today when I get home.

A culture of thievery.
Posted on October 24, 2007 at 12:15 pm.
I want to vent out my bewilderment.
The Witcher came out in Russia today. I often visit one Russian fan site for the latest rumors and also to talk to others who have read the books. Although there is a good number of people there who bought the game or are planning to buy it, most of them openly say that they will steal it.
We had a bunch of heated arguments over piracy and each time I was vastly outnumbered. Even those who buy games, seem to believe that it is their right to "try them out" before committing to purchasing them.
The admin of this fan site had recently found a torrent on another Russian site and reported it to the publisher.
You would not believe what happened...
The site got overrun (and I mean OVERRUN) by HORDES of people who wanted to express their hatred for this guy. They cursed him, promised him that he will burn in hell, sworn to kill him, mutilate him or beat him up, questioned his sexuality and so on. Russia is a very homophobic place, and so most of them accused him of being gay one way or another. No expletive was left unused. Then they found his picture somewhere and said that they would post it everywhere so that "mother Russia knows its traitors".
This continued for hours and hours. I was shocked...
I've been living in the US for half of my life (13 years) and although I see myself as Russian in many aspects, I was struck by how American I actually am. These people really do believe that it is their right to steal any software they want and that anyone who prevents them from doing it is a snitch and overall a person of the worst possible kind.
Oh and the punchline? Well, this admin guy sees nothing wrong with not owning his Windows and Photoshop. He just wants people to buy his favorite game.
I am seriously depressed now. Can someone please reassure me and tell me that everything will be alright?

Game #118 - Half-Life 2: Episode 2
Posted on October 20, 2007 at 12:16 am.
Just finished Half-Life 2: Episode 2. It is easily the best game in all the Half-Life series! I loved it!
Now it is on my list under number 118.

Mona 'The Hammer' Shaw.
Posted on October 19, 2007 at 10:51 am.
Comcast has nothing on the RIAA, but they are still pretty hated.
The Shaws have scheduled installation Comcast's over hyped Triple Play service, which combines phone, cable and Internet. So Comcast didn't show up. Instead they came two days later but didn't even finish the job. Oh and on Friday morning, they just cut off all service.
So the Shaws went to a Comcast office and asked to talk to a manager. They wete told to sit outside (in August) and wait. After some hours a low-level Comcast goon came out to tell them that the manager has left.
So gramma Shaw came over to the office in a few days and brought a hammer with her. And guess what, a few computers later they started paying attention to her!
Down with shitty customer service! Long live Mona Shaw!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. sucks!
Posted on October 16, 2007 at 9:37 pm.
I have a belief that is bothering me. I want to get rid of it pretty badly. Yet it gets reaffirmed over and over again.
Russians (or former Soviets if you will) can't make games at all. They just suck at it! Same goes for movies, although they used to be pretty good back in the day.
I keep hoping to see a good game made by the Russians and I keep getting very disappointed by the shit they turn out.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is made by a Ukranian company, but the difference is non-existent.
I really wanted to like this game so I had a friend install the original Russian-language version of it on my computer from his Steam account so that he could show it to me.
This game looks like shit. Yes, I turned every imaginable setting as far up as it goes. Yes my computer can handle it at over 100 frames per second. I am supposed to see it at FULL SPLENDOR. Yet it looks much-much worse than Half-Life 2 for example.
It also sounds like shit. The voice acting is so poor, it's not funny. The writing is also disappointing.
The bugs are all over the place. Forgive me but I expect the V-Sync to work. Especially after a patch.
Now I have to say that I like the book it is based on and I like the genre. As I said before I really wanted to like this game. However, the truth is - S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SUCKS!
