Words of wisdom.
Posted on December 26, 2007 at 8:56 pm.
"In the good old days, there existed a tradition whereby when men of ill repute walked about in the streets in large groups, dressed in towels, blocking traffic and screaming out nihilistic slogans, they were dispersed with a direct application of grapeshot. Later on, in the age of the common man, this custom fell into decline. So has Western Civilization. Now, while I'm not claiming a cause and effect relationship, I must nevertheless point out the correlation."
Arthur Shagal

Movie - The Golden Compass.

I saw The Golden Compass yesterday and loved it!
It is a beautiful looking film, with surprisingly fair acting. It doesn't moralize above norm and has no love story. It has lots of steam punk stuff, and you get to see an evil church-like organization being slapped around. Oh and and at the very end a bunch of parallel-world "cossacks" (who speak Russian) gets massacred.
Seriously, what more could I ask for?!

♪ In the field a birch tree stood ♫. Then it got committed because someone suspected it didn't like Putin.
That's how things work in Russia nowadays. Here's a fun article.

Canadian Muslim strangles daughter.
Posted on December 11, 2007 at 4:02 pm.
What happens when normal people allow animals to live among them? Some hope that the animals may evolve.
Mr. Muhammad Parvez, however, decided not to evolve. Instead he figured it would be a good idea to strangle his 16-year-old daughter to death, because she didn't want to wear a Muslim head-scarf.
Article is here.
There are those who say that animals could potentially be elevated to human status in a few generations. How will that happen if they kill their own children for wanting to be more human?

Call of Duty 4 demo.
Posted on December 9, 2007 at 9:35 pm.
I downloaded a demo of Call of Duty 4 tonight. It's a very short level, but I loved it. The game looks awesome! I am not sure it has all the graphical fanfare of Crysis, but to me it was just as good or better. Another thing going for it is that they are FINALLY out of the god damned World War II. Oh, how I am sick of it.
It was a little disappointing, however, not being able to cut down trees with bullets and to destroy all the barrels, crates and walls.
Still, this is something I may buy.

Aquaria demo.

I downloaded a demo of an independent game Aquaria, and although it is not my exact cup of tea, I did enjoy the music and the art. People who are into such games will likely like it.
