There have been calls for update, and since I don't really have anything interesting to post I'll just repost something I saw over at Vika's blog.
There is a site called Things Rachael and I argue about. You should go and check it out.
A guy who writes is lives with a defective roommate who makes his life living hell. He is the most pathetic loser I ever heard of. Since I don't feel sorry for him, his suffering is hilarious.

If you get a ticket in the fucking Crook County, don't go to court. By the order of some scumbag you will now have to pay the court-imposed fine AND THEN an additional $135. That goes for all minor traffic violations.
Apparently the recent 10% sales tax isn't enough to line the swine's pockets.
I am moving out of Hellinois in a few years...

Movie - Iron Man.

Just saw Iron Man in a theater tonight. Wow, what a movie! I loved every bit of it! Unlike most other films based on comic books, this one is actually a great movie.
Also, I like Iron Man in general as a superhero. Unlike others who rely on being an alien or a mutant, or magical, or being trained by ninjas, Iron Man is just a regular person who becomes a superhero purely through his intellect.
Anyway, I highly recommend this movie to everyone.

Illegal Aliens and failed asylum seekers are trying to run away from Britain.
They say that bad weather and bad health care are their reasons.
Now... most of these people are from Afghanistan and Iraq. And they think that health care in Britain is bad. That's quite telling isn't it?
A surveillance state that nobody wants to go to, and those who got there illegally are trying to run away from.
Very satisfying.

My 3rd citizenship.

Today I took a few hours off of work and rode the train downtown to take an oath and receive my citizenship certificate. Everything went well and now I am officially an American citizen.
People from 30 different countries were there, most of them Asian, African and Latin American. The ceremony was very proper, non-pompous and generally just the way I like ceremonies to be. There was a short greeting/speech by the judge, after that we said the oath, then the pledge of allegiance and that was it. Everyone got handed their certificate and went on their merry way.
Also there were people from the voter registration office, so I registered to vote on the spot.
When I got back to the office my coworkers threw a surprise party for me. There was champagne, apple pie and little American flags. It was very nice of them! =) Thanks, guys!
They also gave me printouts with information about all non-major political parties such as Green, Nazi, First, Libertarian and Communist. I think I'll stay party-less for now though. =)

Book: Under a Cruel Star.

I've reade a book called Under a Cruel Star: A Life in Prague 1941-1968. It is written by Heda Margolius Kovály, who as a young woman escaped the Nazi concentration camp and later was a wife of a Party official executed in the purges.
This book describes day-to-day life under communist rule as well as the effect it has on people, economy and other aspects of human existence.
Anyone who thinks that socialism is even remotely a good idea should read this book. It is clear, concise, powerful and very easy to read.

Uwe Boll and Blizzard.

Uwe Boll is a German film-maker who makes movies based on games. His movies are beyond horrible and he is universally hated for that. Also, he is a deplorable human being and a knave of the worst kind. I blogged about one particular occurrence that leads to this conclusion.
Anyway, recently he approached Blizzard (the makers of World of Warcraft) with an offer to make a movie based on their game. Blizzard replied: "We will not sell the movie rights, not to you... especially not to you."
Boll had the following to say about gamers in general: "And to be honest, the real gamers are the typical download guys, right? They don't pay anything for movies, because they illegally download the movies. So why I should please these guys?"
Recently he also said that he'll stop making movies if one million people sign a petition asking him to stop. So here is the petition, and as you can see it has 200,000 signatures already.

Australia bans laser pointers.

Laser pointers in Australia are now banned. Possession will be treated as possession of firearms. (In Australia that means you will be spat upon until dead by drowning.)

Next I propose they outlaw penises as potential tools of rape. Possession of one should result in automatic neutering. That way these idiots will die out soon enough.
