Movie - Inglorious Basterds.
Posted on August 31, 2009 at 11:05 am.

I went to see the Inglorious Basterds yesterday. It was pretty good, and you could tell it was a Tarantino film even if his name wasn't on it.
The whole affair was engaging, but a bit too long for my taste. One thing that I really enjoyed were the dialogues. After my recent excursions into the Russian cinema, a movie that has good writing was a breath of fresh air.
The acting was mostly good... except for Brad Pitt, who should really only be assigned silent roles that require no facial expressions.
Still, overall it was totally worth $6. I'm glad I went.

Retarded society to ruin girl's life.
Posted on August 28, 2009 at 1:39 pm.

Came across this article today, and it pissed me the fuck off. What a retarded society we live in!
Ok, so this 15 year old kid got to fuck his teacher (a fairly good looking one) and got $1500 for doing so! WHY, OH WHY, WAS I NOT VICTIMIZED LIKE THAT?!
So now they are going to ruin her life forever, to protect poor innocent children from her - the evil sexual predator. Fuck that!
They will drag her through all the demeaning legal procedures, mix her name with mud and possibly put her in prison. Then, once she is out, they will list her as a child molester in the sex-offender registry. All because she had sex with a guy who is totally old enough to know what he wants.
Melissa, baby, you can come and victimize me any day! ♥♥♥

Nothing to play.
Posted on August 27, 2009 at 12:58 am.

Ok, maybe I'm lying. I got games to play. But I don't want to play them! That has got to mean something. Let's see here.
I got Ben There Dan That. It's pretty cool looking, but I really need to sit down and get into it. For some reason I don't feel like it right now. I'll play it one day, but not just yet.
I got Penumbra Overture. I played it for like the first 20 minutes and it just wasn't all that exciting. I probably wouldn't even buy it if it wasn't for sale on Steam. Maybe I'll get back to it, but... I really have no desire to do so now.
I got F.E.A.R. It's kind of a nice game, and I am about 2/3 through it. Unlike some similar games though, I just don't feel too drawn to it for some reason. I'll finish it, if only to validate putting so much time into it, but it doesn't really call to me at the moment.
I got Mass Effect. It's pretty crappy and boring. Bioware really dropped the ball after they released Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Baal. Neverwinter Nights was junk. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was kinda cool, but only because it was Star Wars. Jade Empire was garbage, basically a crappy version of SW: KotOR set in imaginary China. Same for Mass Effect, except it is SW: KotOR in a generic Sci-Fi universe where Bioware doesn't want to pay for SW license.
I got Defense Grid The Awakening. It's a nice tower defense game. The thing is... I almost beat it. Had like 3 levels left. And then comp died, I had to rebuild and lost all my saved games. Tried to recover them from backup - no luck. Even sent an e-mail to the developers - no luck. I'm pissed about having to play it all over again now.
/sigh
I wish I had something to play...

More NHS horror stories.
Posted on August 26, 2009 at 9:47 am.
Some of the stories I posted before, were dismissed as isolated incidents, by the proponents of socialist health care.
What about this one?
The babies born in hospital corridors: Bed shortage forces 4,000 mothers to give birth in lifts, offices and hospital toilets.
Source: here.
Also here is another one. This may be in fact an isolated incident, but... too many incidents of this sort are happening. Not good.
Man collapses with ruptured appendix... three weeks after NHS doctors "took it out."
Source: here.
Update:
This one is real good. One million NHS patients have been the victims of appalling care in hospitals across Britain, according to a major report released today.
Source: here.
Soon comes Obamacare...

Game #132 - StarCraft: Brood War.
Posted on August 26, 2009 at 12:20 am.

I just beat StarCraft's expansion Brood War. It is my game number 132 and is now recorded in my list.
What a tough game! The Zerg campaign was absolutely overwhelming! Still, I am glad I played it. I like the story and the gameplay, and now I can wait for StarCraft II to come out, knowing that I've seen all there is to see.
I hope Kerrigan gets what's coming to her and I hope it's Zeratul and Raynor who will find her first.
Oh, one thing I disliked (other than ridiculous odds) was Kerrigan giving dramatic villain-type speeches at every opportunity. "Yes, I tricked and betrayed you all most deviously! Woe is you!" That was unnecessary. Otherwise, the game is awesome.

Worst web site ever!
Posted on August 24, 2009 at 11:30 am.

I was sitting at work being productive when my boss came in and announced that someone sent him a web site so horrible, he's never seen anything like it before.
I consider myself an Internet guru, and I've seen some pretty damn horrible web sites, so I wanted to take a look, if only to dismiss it as "not so bad." Well, that was before I actually saw it...
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you - The Worst Web Site Ever! (Warning, you may get a headache and/or throw up.)

WoW at high resolutions.
Posted on August 22, 2009 at 10:47 pm.

With all this talk about the new World of Warcraft expansion, and thinking back a few posts down, where I asked Blizzard to provide up with 2560x1600 resolution wallpapers, I realized that I've never actually seen WoW at that resolution since I quit the game in April before getting my new monitor.
I wasn't about to resubscribe just to check it out, so I downloaded the free trial and took a few screenshots. They are pretty damn humongous.
If you want to see how this resolution compares to your monitor, you can download them here and here.

New look!
Posted on August 22, 2009 at 11:18 am.

You may have noticed I updated the look of this site yesterday. I'm still not done, but it is at least usable now.
I also reprogrammed a lot of features of the blog engine. Most of them you will not notice, since they are improvements I made for myself as the admin. Still some things are also designed to make your life easier. For example if you want to comment on a post, the form which you fill out is directly below all the other comments now. Before, it was a separate page, which was inconvenient. Also the page is wider now, and should be easier to read.
As far as the new design, I think it will work better than the old one. It was influenced by a theme called RPS 2.0 by a man named James Willock. He designed Rock, Paper, Shotgun one of my favorite gaming sites. I didn't just steal it though, simply borrowed design ideas for the way the blog posts are formatted and the overall business with the site not having an image background.
In the weeks that follow I will finish making changes and hopefully everything will get back on track soon.

Open letter to Blizzard.
Posted on August 21, 2009 at 4:49 pm.

Dear Blizzard,
Thank you for making awesome games! Also thank you for providing us with an endless supply of cool game-related stuff!
One thing though... why is it that whenever you post a new desktop wallpaper for us to download, the maximum size is always 1920x1200? Some of us like to play at 2560x1600. Your games support this resolution, why not give us a wallpaper of the same size?
Oh, and also it would be cool if you gave some meaningless but awesome things to those who carry your credit card.
Just saying.
