Book - He Lover of Death.
Posted on September 22, 2009 at 11:25 pm.

I read He Lover of Death by Boris Akunin. This one I finished in one day. It's much better than the last one, although curiously enough both narratives occur in the same time period, but from the points of view of completely unrelated characters.

Book - She Lover of Death.
Posted on September 22, 2009 at 7:25 pm.

I read She Lover of Death by Boris Akunin. It's not quite as engaging as other books from the same series, but more or less adequate. I actually started reading it once before, a few years ago, but never got past the first dozen pages. This time, I decided to finish it, since it is not really all that large, and I didn't expect it to take longer than a few days.

The Days of Grays.
Posted on September 22, 2009 at 10:16 am.

Sonata Arctica's new album The Days of Grays came out today in North America. I bought it on Amazon MP3 before going to work and am listening to it now in the office.
As always with a new album my initial impressions will most likely change, but for the time being... I like it much less that Unia or the Reckoning Night. It was advertised as "darker but otherwise the same" and while there may be a pinch of extra darkness, the overall impression is that they are losing their metal edge and falling into pop.
A few of the songs are nice, fast and have a metal feel to them, but the majority are slow and the music is more of the soft-rock kind. Still, I will continue listening and hopefully will change my mind in a few weeks once I had a chance to listen to it a dozen or so times.

Game #134 - Heroes Over Europe
Posted on September 22, 2009 at 1:00 am.

I just finished playing Heroes Over Europe, my game number 134. It's a WWII flight simulator, and although it isn't a bad game on its own, it gave me such hell (by being buggy) that when I write a review I will be certain to get back at it.
Meanwhile I recorded it in my list of games I beat.

Windows 7 for $30.
Posted on September 17, 2009 at 7:09 pm.

Microsoft is being awesome! They just announced that college students in the US will be able to buy Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Professional for $30.
Go here to order your copy (if you are a student.)
Students from other civilized countries are also getting this deal, although prices may vary. For example the British will have to pay £30.
The version you'll get is not "For Academic Use Only" which means it's the same as retail and will be legal for you to keep even after you graduate/get kicked out.
$30 is for download, and you can pay another $13 to be shipped a DVD. That's exactly what I did! Woot!

Environmentalist freaks bring dung.
Posted on September 17, 2009 at 4:05 pm.

Environmentalist protesters have once again shown what they are made of, by dumping bags of horse manure on the lawn and drive-way of a libertarian journalist who doubts their crazy made-up global warming lunacy.
I expected nothing less of them.

Audacity of hos.
Posted on September 17, 2009 at 1:08 pm.

This is precious! John Stewart comments on the ACORN scandal, and unlike a lot of liberals, he doesn't defend it. In fact he makes fun of those who blame conservatives, Fox, etc. And shames the news networks for not doing it themselves, instead leaving it to a pair of kids with a video camera and their grandmother's chinchilla coat.
For the record, I am not a fan of James O'Keefe (the 'pimp' filmmaker.) In fact I find him and his "activism" to be unpleasant. I am also not a fan of Glen Beck who used this story to throw yet another lunatic tantrum. However, even though the people who brought this to light are ... not to my liking, I still think the information is important and shouldn't be shrugged off.
This goes for conservatives' abuses as well. In this case I'm a-political, anyone who does shit like that should be brought to justice, be they on the left or the right.

Die by the sword.
Posted on September 15, 2009 at 11:49 am.

So a bunch of college kids are sitting at home. They are sad, because someone broke in on Monday and stole two laptops and a Playstation. At about 1 o'clock at night they hear a noise. One of them grabs a sword and goes to investigate.
Once downstairs he finds a burglar, who attacks him. So the kid yells "OMG! WTF!" or something along those lines and chops the asshole to bits.
Cops come, remove the (now dead) asshole and... that's it.
The funny part is that the burglar had convictions for breaking and entering and had just been released from jail on Saturday. He totally had it coming! Woot!

I'm not really a car person, but this one is strangely erotic...

An outhouse is not the cultural equivalent of indoor plumbing.
