Kinky Kollege.
Posted on October 27, 2009 at 12:40 pm.

Warning! If you are an older relative of mine, read no further.
This weekend I went to Kinky Kollege. It is "A Pansexual BDSM Institute of Higher Yearning," basically a 3-day event for all kinds of kinky people. There were classes, vendors, STD testing, booths for various political and support organizations, porn, etc, etc, etc.
I took a class on what can be done with just one rope. It is more difficult and dangerous than when having multiple ropes, but very cool at the same time. I'm a newbie when it comes to rope bondage, but I learned a thing or two there.
I also took a class on breath-play; a lot of people are into that apparently.
Then I had a class with one of the oldest people in the community, who spoke about how the whole "Leather scene" started, back when it was just a few gay men in the 1950s, and how it progressed.
Also took a class with the guy who made FetLife and it was really interesting and fun.
Then there was a class on mind-fucking, the presenter taught a few nice tricks and shared a lot of stories. For example he talked about training someone to cum on command, and then how to then tie the trigger to external stimuli such as certain events. This takes time though, a year and a half in his case.
Lastly I took two classes that are something of a taboo to a lot of people even in the kinky community, so I'd rather not talk about them here.
Obviously all the classes included a lot of safety information and all that. Don't want anyone to get hurt. So now there's some stuff I wanna try, and some new acquisitions I wanna try out. I also got tested, and am glad to report that I got no STDs. =)
Overall it was a blast!

An autumn moment.
Posted on October 20, 2009 at 5:05 pm.

The sky is gray and dull, trees are lifeless and it will probably rain soon. It wasn't anything like that an hour ago. This morning I had the good fortune to experience one of the short, yet incredibly beautiful autumn moments.
While on the road I noticed being surrounded by storm clouds. They were quite menacing with occasional streaks of silver to bring out the overwhelming darkness. Then suddenly, the sky behind me cleared a bit, and the sun came out.
It is the second half of October so the sunrise is decidedly late. At eight o'clock it is still low enough to radiate the kind of warm, soft light that delights anyone who is up early enough to see it.
As the light fell on the trees and the grass, it ignited them with the kind of gentle glow that seems to emanate from the inside. Ever so pretty, it becomes breathtakingly majestic when set against the heavy darkness of an incoming tempest. Frighteningly surreal and possessive of the strange, fragile beauty that is not long for this world, it made my heart ache with sadness over its nearing destruction.
It is now long gone.

Game #136 - World in Conflict: Soviet Assault
Posted on October 17, 2009 at 10:08 pm.

Along with World in Conflict, I also finished its expansion pack The Soviet Assault, which was fully integrated, and didn't feel like a separate campaign. This is a pretty awesome way of adding content, especially since I never played the original and experienced both games as one. The plot lines were very impressive, especially considering the fact that these are strategy titles.
Soviet Assault is now number 136 on a list of the games I beat.

Game #135 - World in Conflict
Posted on October 17, 2009 at 10:04 pm.

A few moments ago I finished playing World in Conflict, a most spectacular Strategy game! I bought it for only $5 as a digital download from Direct2Drive, and it didn't even have any DRM in it! A great deal!
As it stands, this is now my game number 135 and has been recorded in my list accordingly. Too bad it's a few years old, otherwise I'd review it and give it an excellent score!

Games, lightscribe, drivers, etc.
Posted on October 7, 2009 at 10:15 am.
This week is the 5th week of the 5th Anniversary Sale on Direct2Drive. That's a web site that sells games, which you then download as opposed to getting a CD/DVD. A whole lot of games cost a mere $5, some of them pretty new and good.
I was contemplating buying a few for a while, but was worried about DRM, etc. While I never got a straight answer out of anyone, I decided that for $5 I may as well buy what I want, and if later it turns out they are DRM infested, I'll just not play them.
So I bought the following:
- Sid Meier's Railroads!
- Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
- World in Conflict Gold Edition
I have a lightscribe DVD burner, which allows me to turn my CD/DVD upside down and burn a picture with the laser on the other side. It's great for labeling. The problem is, while there are CDs and DVDs that support it, there are no Dual-Layer DVDs. So I'll have to come up with another way to label the last game.
Oh and finally, last night I couldn't get my computer to even detect my drive as lightscribe capable. After a while, I figured that it was nVidia's nForce drivers that were to blame. Once I replaced those, everything worked fine.

Ha-ha! No Olympics in Chicago!
Posted on October 2, 2009 at 2:23 pm.

Great news, my friends! Chicago got unanimously voted down as the potential host of the 2016 Olympics!
YESSSSSSSSSS!
Let the mobs trash Rio instead. Let Rio's taxes get raised. Let there be murderous traffic and street closures in Rio. Let their other officials steal more than ours...
Well, that last one is un-possible. It is against the laws of nature for any human being to be more corrupt that Illinois (and especially Chicago) officials. Still overall this is a the most awesome news!

Dragonforce & Sonata Arctica concert.
Posted on October 1, 2009 at 9:44 am.

Last night I went to a concert.
Some obscure Canadian band called Taking Dawn was opening, and they weren't bad. Then Sonata Arctica played, and it was awesome! They always put on a good show.
Then, Dragonforce, (whom I for some reason haven't heard of before - yea I know, I fail as a metal-head) came out. THEY WERE FUCKIGN AMAZING!!! It was easily the best concert I've ever been to, including the Nightwish one. Not only was the music great, the show itself was utterly spectacular!
I think I am going to buy a few or their CDs and get a closer look/listen. The only problem with them was that their t-shirts were ugly, so I bought myself a Sonata Arctica tee.
Overall I had a magnificent evening! Woot!!!

The vile hydra of spam.
Posted on September 29, 2009 at 2:08 pm.

Not long ago, before the redesign of this site, I implemented a little trick aimed at preventing spam-bots from posting to the comments area. Of course it didn't help against human spammers, but those are fairly few and easy to deal with.
After the redesign, however, my little spam-catcher stopped working. This was because of the way that pages exchanged data.
For a while I was receiving HUNDREDS of spam posts per day. They forced me to enable moderation of comments. Instead of appearing on the site, all this crap went to my mailbox, which of course didn't make me very happy.
Today I figured out a way to mute the spam-bots once again. Only got 2 posts so far. Woot! Anyway, the moderation is now off, so feel free to post as you did before!

Heroes Over Europe review published.
Posted on September 25, 2009 at 11:41 am.

My review of Heroes Over Europe was published today. This time I'm not very happy with the editing, because I had a lot of humor in there, and all of it got removed. Still, even in its current form it's informative enough.
Check out the editor's version over at The Adrenaline Vault.
