Heavy Rain PS3 demo.

I played a PS3 demo of Heavy Rain over at a friend's house today. When it comes out I may borrow the console to give it a more in-depth try. Here are my impressions so far:
It would have made a wonderful PC game, but is utterly ruined by console controls and gameplay mechanics based on those controls. Stupid rapid clicking sequences from Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit) are back. Some facial animations were outright freaky, which I am sure was not the intent. It also suffers from woefully low resolution textures. In addition to that, like all console games it doesn't support resolutions higher than 1920x1080.
Color me unimpressed so far. I've been waiting for this game ever since the original "audition" trailer appeared, but I'm much less exited after today. Hopefully the final version will have better controls and better textures. The biggest issue of course is that it will not be released on PC. What an idiotic move.

I can legally live and work on 30% of this planet's land surface. It's kinda cool. =) Maybe once I am finally done with school I will try and find a job somewhere in Ireland or Scotland. Or anywhere else for that matter. It'd be cool to live somewhere else for a few years.
Of course if I decide to continue my education I'd have to stay in the US. Even though I can go to any school in Europe, of which quite a few would be free, I'd still rather pay the exuberant fees to get an education here as opposed to anywhere else.
This does open up quite a few possibilities though.

1.5 years worth of Warcraft porn searches.

A long time ago, back when I was still playing World of Warcraft, I had a silly conversation with a female friend, about sexual merits of Draenei, a fictional fantasy race. I posted it here for fun... and then an interesting thing happened. People who were googling all sorts of WoW-related porn began seeing my site in their search results. I posted about it here and then forgot it ever happened. Meanwhile more and more searches were made...
Now, a year and a half later, I have collected all the data and would like to share it with you. Also, it made me wonder about various business opportunities. I mean it's a known fact that people love cartoon porn. The Internet is full of it. Apparently there is a lot of people who are interested in porn featuring characters from games. I wonder why do game developers not take advantage of this demand? Why are there no erotic/pornographic games on the market. Sure there are a few Japanese ones, but they are usually poorly made.
So how come nobody is selling even though somebody is clearly buying?
Edit: Keep in mind all these searches are based on a mere few mentions. It's not like I'm running a porn site here. What would the numbers look like if I actually was?

Book - Catch-22.

I finally finished reading Catch-22. Actually I started reading it twice before, but both times I didn't have a chance to see it through because of reasons outside my control. Both times I was upset over it but then more things came up and I forgot all about it then.
Now, I finally decided to finish it no matter what. I went to a store, bought my own copy and chipped away at it until I was done.
Catch-22 is a glorious book, possibly one of the best books ever written. It's funny, sad, profound, insightful, marvelous, a true work of literature and philosophy! I am elated to own it, and even more elated to have read it. If you haven't yet had a chance to enjoy it - do so at once!

Book - Peddlers of the Impossible.

Today I finished reading Peddlers of the Impossible by Vadim Panov. I enjoyed the style and the language, as usual, but I think the more supernatural crap he introduces to what started off as a cyberpunk series the worse it becomes. Purely personal opinion of course, but I'd much rather see the Enclaves books as a solely Deus Ex kind of sci-fi, as opposed to this weird mix.

Australia bans small boobs.

The funniest (or if you look at in on a deeper level - the most disturbing) news this year so far.
Australia's government is "banning" adult publications and films featuring women with "small breasts," on the grounds that such images encourage pedophilia. A 2005 ruling specified that even depictions of women who are over 18 but "appear to be" underage may be judged "illegal."
Nice. Good job Australia. Real good job.
I propose you also ban all the women with small breasts. You know, so the bitches don't walk around encouraging pedophilia. Make them get implants or throw them in prison! In the name of the common good!

A client sent some artwork for a web site I'm working on today. Among other images there was a front cover of a certain magazine, which he scanned in. Unfortunately the cover was damaged... so before putting it through the scanner he partially filled it in with markers.
The somewhat ironic thing is that the cover was meant to illustrate the generational differences...

Game #145 - Defense Grid: The Awakening.

I beat Defense Grid: The Awakening, my game number 145. It's an indie tower defense game, and a pretty good one at that. Much better than those numerous Flash-based games for instance.
I actually bought it a while ago, but I kept putting off returning to it. That's because when I first got it I played a lot and nearly beat the damn thing. And then I was rebuilding my computer and even though I thought I backed the saves up, upon reinstalling the system I discovered that I was sent back to square one. FML!
I was pissed! I even write to the developers asking for help but they never replied. So it was only a few days ago that I came back to it and now it is finished and recorded in my list as always.
